Although I may find it hard to buy proper presents for my husband and the other men in my life, the one thing I have never struggled with it stocking fillers. There is endless amounts of stuff I could buy to pop into my hubby's stocking, making this gift guide one of the easiest I have written so far!
For the Movie Buff
Super Hero Socks
I think to be honest that socks are a given when it comes to stocking fillers for him or her, and these amazing superhero socks that come as a pack of seven from Lost World Gifts* are a great addition to anybodies stocking; but especially a guy like my hubby who loves his movies and comics.
Star Wars Tsum Tsum
I think the Disney Tsum Tsum range is fabulous and when I came across the ones made to look like Star Wars characters I just had to pick one up. The best thing about this Jar Jar Binks one is that I picked him up in the sale at Clinton's for just 99p (they are £3.50 normally!). Stocking fillers don't need to be expensive and if you are savvy enough to shop all year around you will find some awesome gifts at bargain prices.
For the Coffee Lover
Instant Late Sachets and Biscuits
Talking about budget savvy stocking fillers, a trip to your local Poundland or Poundworld will do wonders for padding it out. My husband loves himself a latte and these Maxwell House sachets are perfect, eight lattes ready to go and some of his favourite biscuits to boot.
A Little Tipple
Christmas Ale
There is nothing nicer than curling up at Christmas with a warming glass of mulled wine or eggnog and listening to Christmas tunes. My hubby isn't a fan however so a bottle of Greene King's Old Mulled Hen* a festive spiced 5% ale or Rocking Rudolph* a 4.5% mulled ale inside his stocking is the perfect alternative.
A Book (with a Difference)
The Whiskey Dictionary
When the man in your life has everything and is a fan of whiskey like mine is, the fun Whiskey Dictionary by Iain Hector Ross which Sandstone Press recently published would be the perfect addition to his Christmas stocking. With everything from funny folklore to every whiskey term you can think of; this is the ultimate guide to whiskey speak and a fun gift for him!
For Men with a Sweet Tooth
Sea Salt Caramels
If you want to add a little somthin' somethin' to a stocking you are filling for the man in your life, you can't go wrong with a fancy looking box of truffles or caramels like these lush Artisan Chocolat sea salted caramels which I am sure are right up John's street.
Sweetie Tubes
Popping a couple of sweetie or chocolate tubes like these I picked up for just £1 a piece in Iceland is a perfect way to fill out that stocking with something cheap yet totally yummy. We all know they won't last long but at least you can be sure they will be enjoyed.
Chocolate and other Treats
I think you have probably seen the theme here. If all else fails you can be sure even nook and cranny of that stocking you are popping gifts into will be filled if you buy up a load of different sweet treats. John doesn't really have a sweet tooth like I do but he does have a selection of treats he really loves. The best thing of all is that they can all be picked up in pretty much any of the pound stores.
For Men who prefer Healthy Snacks
A "Free From" Christmas Snack
Sometimes you have a man in your life (like my dad) who although they don't mind the odd sweet treat they prefer to enjoy a nice healthy snack, something that is as good for them as it is delicious. These fabulous stollen bars from Elizabeth D Bakes* not only fit the bill but are also a great "free from" range if, like my brother-in-law they are free from certain ingredients that make them ill!
A "Free From" Nutty Spread
Free from is all the rage these days, but for some people it isn't just a fa, it is a part of their every day life. My mother-in-law and brother-in-law both have dietary requirements because certain foods make them ill and my dad has been vegetarian (on the verge of vegan) for as long as I can remember. This awesome nut spread from The Nut Kitchen is a great stocking filler for people like my family members.
For the Hygiene Concious
Body Wash, Deodorant, and Spray
Lynx Africa is such a cliché gift, but it is also something that my husband uses a lot of from the body wash in the shower to the dry deodorant. These are another Poundland bargain, and if you're not a fan of Lynx there are plenty of other brands available to choose from.
Toothbrush and Toothpaste
They will certainly need something to stop their teeth rotting from snacking on all the sugar you stuffed in their stocking. Whether you buy a cheap pack of basics toothbrushes with five in the pack or choose to go a little more upmarket with a branded one, these are both useful and easy stocking fillers to buy.
For the Well Groomed Man
Shaving Gear
I like myself a clean, well groomed man; and even Squidgy is not a fan of her daddy ending up with stubble when he doesn't shave. Making sure that there is shaving foam and razor heads inside his stocking is both a hint and also another useful gift to pop inside.
Beard Care Products
Not everyone is clean shaven, however, and for those who choose to grow a beard some care products are the perfect addition to their stocking. Obviously I don't have a beard, so I can't review this myself but I can tell you that Thatchface's Wild Zest Beard Oil comes highly recommended by my uncle who does! He said to me, "Thatchface's Wild Zest Beard Oil has a pleasant fresh fragrance and moisturizes your whiskers effectively. It has now become part of my daily grooming routine!"
The range from Thatchface are fabulous and come in different scents and sets... so you could pop one or more inside the stocking for the bearded man in your life!
For Fighting against Man Flu
At this time of year it is inevitable that "man flu" will be doing the rounds once again... so popping a few gifts into the man in your life's stocking to combat it will hopefully help you out a little bit.
Heat Holder Socks
These SockShop Heat Holders socks not only come with grips on the bottom making them awesome slipper socks, but they are made out of thermal materials (with an amazing 2.34 TOG rating!) perfect for keeping your feet cosy and warm.
The best part though, is that they come in different designs including the Superman ones I have for John, Hulk, Spiderman and so many more!
Tissues
Blowing noses is one of the grossest and yet most essential parts of having "man flu" and I love these "Man Flu" Tissues from Amazon which can be popped into a coat or trouser pocket ready for the inevitable moment they are required.
