We are in the final countdown to Munchkin's arrival. With just a few weeks to go until his arrival, what gifts are a good choice for new parents? For someone like me who already has children, it's likely there aren’t many things we don't already have. That doesn’t mean I don't have plenty of new baby gift ideas to share, however! Read on for my top baby gift picks.

Bathtime gift ideas

Johnson's bedtime gift set*

One gift you can never go wrong with has to be baby bath gift sets! Johnson's have been a leading baby product brand for over 100 years, and are still a great go-to for many parents. This bedtime gift set* is the perfect new baby gift idea, as it's thoughtful and useful (and smells amazing!)

A towel (or two!)

You can't bathe a baby without having something to wash them with, and wrap them in after. When buying towels for new babies always make sure they are soft and preferably come with a hood! Newborns are unable to regulate their own temperature and a hood helps to keep them warm after their bath.

Changing time gift ideas

Moo Goo skincare products*

What could be better than products with not only high quality but all natural ingredients? Babies come with super sensitive skin, and having natural, gentle products is essential to care for them in the best way possible. Moo Goo Skincare is a brand I have only recently discovered, but have fallen in love with. From products for babies to products for me (I am loving the name of their nipple cream, udder balm!) this Australian, family-run brand is something I am so excited to be able to use for Munchkin and am 100% sure would make a great gift for new parents!

Bedtime gift ideas

Giant swaddle muslins

Giant muslins were an absolute lifesaver for me when I had Pickle. Firstly, they are fabulous as they can be used as a swaddle to keep new babies warm, cosy and feeling safe. I also loved them because they were a perfect way to protect everything from baby puke in those early days as we were getting used to breastfeeding! I love the ones available from Millee Moo & You* from the awesome patterns to their neutral palette. They make a great gift for new parents, especially if you don't know the gender of their baby!

Baby safe blankets: even better if they're handmade

As I said before, babies aren’t able to regulate their own body temperature. This makes it so important for parents to ensure they keep their baby warm and cosy when required. Baby safe blankets such as cellular blankets are often a popular choice, but for me the best gifts are always the handmade ones! Obviously running Mama Naii's Crochet I have made many a blanket to be given as gifts, by me and by my customers!

Practical gift ideas

Cloth nappies

If you know new parents who have chosen to use cloth nappies for their baby; help them build their stash with cloth nappy gifts. As great as they are, and as much money as they save in the long-term; cloth nappies are not the cheapest option to start with. They make such a lovely gift with all the amazing patterns and prints available, and best of all they are a practical gift too! If you're not sure about cloth nappies, feel free to check out the cloth nappy posts I've written for advice on different types of cloth nappy, their care and more.

Baby clothes: not just newborn size

Having a little boy this time around means that I sort of feel like I'm starting from scratch with things like clothes. After all, I don’t really want to dress my son in his sisters’ old pink, frilly dresses! Whether you're buying gifts for a first baby, or for parents who like me have to get stuff for a different gender; clothes in a variety of sizes are always a winner. After all, babies grow so quickly, they're bound to need bigger sizes soon enough.

Getting out-and-about gift ideas

Dummy clips

If, as we have, parents decide to use a dummy or pacifier the last thing you want is to lose them. They aren’t exactly the cheapest of items and if you're out and about and forget a spare it can be a nightmare. Trust me, I remember all too well with Pickle! A lovely, handmade clip from Handmade Dummy Clips* is a great way to stop accidents happening. Not only will you be supporting a small, local run business; but you can also choose a variety of colours and even have it personalised! It comes beautifully packaged too, each part of the process has such amazing attention to detail and the customer service offered is second to none.

Snugglebundl

How many of us have tried to move a baby from their car seat and failed in doing so without waking them? With the Snugglebundl* this should be a problem of the past. It allows you to pick them up, move and carry them (with their head fully supported) without waking them. It's also an ideal product for helping settle baby at night; as you can use it to rock baby to help relieve colic and/or reflux.

Feeding gift ideas

Baby bottles

For mums like me who breastfeed, deciding to express and use a bottle comes with a number of challenges. None more so than which of the many brands of bottle to use. Bottles from Nanobébé* are an ideal choice. They are designed to protect breastmilk and the nutrients it provides, even when warming it! There are a variety of options available amongst their product range to suit your gift buying budget; from single bottles to gift sets.

Dribble bibs

From post-milk feed dribble to early teething days, dribble bibs are a great addition to a baby's outfit to cover and protect their clothes. For my rainbow baby, Ziggle’s rainbow deaign bandana dribble bibs* are the perfect gift. If you prefer neutral colours, animal patterns, or even pink and blue sets, they have something to suit you whatever your choice be. Plus there are other products available too; from leggings and tops to muslins and swaddles.

Soft feeding bibs

Whether baby is fed by bottle or breast, it is likely they may get themselves in a bit of a mess! Protection for baby's clothes from little bits of dribble to spew up is a great gift to offer new parents. A plush baby bib from Bibetta* is a great choice. It’s small to suit little new baby sizing; plus super soft to touch, great for using around baby's sensitive skin.

So, with the countdown truly on now to Munchkin's arrival; here you've found a few perfect gift ideas for parents like us. Whether you need a gift for after baby's arrival, or you have a baby shower to attend; I hope this post has give you some great gift ideas and inspiration.
