Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park | Parkdean Resorts

Nairn Lochloy is not the only Parkdean holiday park that we have visited and you may remember that I wrote about our visit to Sunnydale Holiday Park last year, as well as social media coverage of the time we spent time on the East coast and in Dorset at Parkdean parks and I cannot recommend them enough. Here are a few of the top highlights of our stay at Nairn Lochloy and why we love it there so much.
The Caravan
The caravan was the perfect size for our family of four. With a twin room for the girls to share, and a decent sized double for John and me we all got some fantastic nights sleep while we were away. These caravans are great value for money, and although we went out quite a lot, it was nice to know we weren’t coming back to a tight, cramped space.
John, at 6ft3, can sometimes have trouble with small doorways and showers. Here we didn’t have any problems, from stretching out on the sofa in the evenings to sleeping in Pickle’s bed on the nights she woke up and ended up in ours. The girls also loved the corner dining table and if you really wanted you could even turn the TV to watch it as you ate.
The Facilities
There is plenty to do at Nairn Lochloy, if you decide that you fancy a day at the holiday park instead of exploring the Scottish Highlands. We had a few days on site, especially whilst I had no car when it was having the oil leak sorted out. Each one was fab, and we were just as happy there as on our days out.
The Restaurant
The restaurant is just a short walk from every caravan in the park and offers an amazing range of options on their menu. Whether you fancy heading out for breakfast, have a quick lunch after a swim at the pool or a family night out before the entertainment starts, they’ve got you covered.
The restaurant is a decent size, and every time we visited it was nice and quiet with only a few other people inside. Obviously it’s worth noting we went both out of season (May is just before the big rush of a lot of holiday goers!) and also during school term time, so it may be different if you visit when all the children are off school! The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was always really yummy. The girls were so well behaved, and loved the opportunity to get out and have a meal that we hadn’t made at our self catering caravan.
Crazy Golf
Although we didn’t actually have a chance to have a go at the crazy golf, it’s good to know that it is available. We did see a few families having such fun there. It may be small but it seemed to provide a lot of fun and laughter for adults and children a like. Maybe next time we visit the girls will be old enough to have a go themselves.
Children's Playground
Once again, as with our first visit, the playground proved to be a massive hit. Both girls absolutely loved it there, and we spent hours each day playing and enjoying the sun for as much time as possible. Particularly as we knew it would be a great way to wear them out ready for bed time!
With a variety of different play equipment pieces situated around the playground, they really cater for kids of all ages. Squidgy had a great time exploring the “big kids” climbing frame and slide, whilst Pickle spent most of her time in the swing occasionally wanting to venture off to the toddler area.
Arcade
Unlike some of the other Parkdean parks we have visited, the arcade at Nairn Lochloy is quite small. That doesn’t mean there is nothing to do there, however, and the girls had so much fun on the rides and machines that we let them use occasionally.
What's On
Obviously there is plenty of other things you can do at Narin Lochloy. As with every Parkdean holiday park they have a huge “What’s On” board with all the details of upcoming entertainment from singers to dancers and so much more.
The Beach
We have been to a number of Parkdean parks over the last few years since we began taking staycations and each one is different from the next. Some have a beach that is local and some, like Nairn Lochloy, have a beach right on their door step.
Being able to walk just a few meters from our caravan and onto the beach was wonderful and it led us to enjoy some wonderful time there; including a family walk along the coast and some time finding shells. We even took my grandparent’s dog for a walk, and found a small adventure playground just a short walk away from Nairn Lochloy Holiday Park.
We were so fortunate to have beautiful weather whilst we were away. We had some lovely days out with the kids (check out my post about Free Days Out in the Highlands for inspiration!) and such a wonderful experience at Nairn Lochloy. Thanks to my grandparents baby sitting at our caravan in the evening, we were also able to have some child-free time on our wedding anniversary! All in all we had an awesome holiday as a family, and I can’t wait to visit again.
