Beautiful Islands to Visit | Travel Bucket List

My travel bucket list is rather extensive, and a few destinations that have made the top of my list are actually pretty small, secluded islands. While I do enjoy visiting destinations that are bustling with people and energy, I am also quite keen on a quiet holiday that is all about relaxing and simply enjoying the slow pace of ‘holiday mode’.
Here are 5 small(ish) islands that I would love to visit:
Sicily
Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and is full of culture, history, and things to do and see. There are family-friendly activities such as traditional puppet shows for kids, tasting local foods at food markets, and taking a cable car part way up to explore Mount Etna -- all things that we would love to do as a family. My favorite thing about Sicily is that there are so many activities to do and many historic sites to see, but you can also simply relax and take in the natural beauty of the island. To enjoy the island to its fullest, I recommended checking out websites that offer holiday homes in Sicily. They are actually fairly priced which came as a welcomed surprise!
2. Mykonos
Mykonos is a Greek Island with some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean and vibrant summer nightlife. I’d love to visit the Old Port where you can with views of the sea, see a gorgeous sunset from Little Venice, and visit the archeological site of Delos. The food is also fresh and delicious, and Greek food and fresh seafood are two favourites of mine!
3. Zakynthos
Zakynthos is a Greek Island located in the Ionian Sea, famous for its white beaches, nature, and nightlife. The Venetians nicknamed the island ‘Il Fiore di Levante” (Flower of the East) for its lush landscapes. This island isn’t quite as popular for tourism as some of the other Greek Islands, but it is still especially well loved by the British, French and Italian. I would love to visit the Iconic Navagio (Shipwreck) Beach and see a sunset from the cliffs of Keri and Kryoneri. With children, the National Marine Park would be a must-see.
4. Capri
Capri is a well-loved Italian island that draws in visitors every year. Located in the Bay of Naples, the island has rugged landscapes and a luxurious 7km main town that gives you views from every turn. The food is delicious, and even going for a stroll along the main town is an event as you are rewarded with a special ‘Capri’ environment.
5. Santorini
Yes, this is a third Greek Island here.. but Santorini has to be listed! That picturesque image of Santorini with blue roofs, white buildings and a panoramic sea view is something that I dream of for a holiday. Santorini is a naturally romantic destination, also being famous for its sunsets, so I have this noted as a place for to visit.
