Obscure Places to Visit | Travel Bucket List | Me Becoming Mum

Everyone has places they want to visit. Many probably have the same famous destinations on their list that I do, from Disney World to the Eiffel Tower and more. To be honest though as a mum, as much as I love to go on holiday with my beautiful girls, I dream of adult only holidays like our honeymoon and those offered by Destination 2 (which you can check out here: https://www.destination2.co.uk/).
Here are some of the more unusual destinations I have on my travel bucket list, which I would love to visit with John when the girls are all grown up!
Antelope Canyon
For those of you who don't know, Antelope Canyon is a stunning, bright place; full of curves, and colours located in Arizona. It was were my brother chose to propose to his now wife, and although he beat me to visiting the canyon, it is still on my travel bucket list to go to one day! The way the sun bounces off the beautiful walls and the idea of exploring in the quiet, just sounds so perfect and peaceful. So far from my daily life of screaming children and changing nappies!
Route 66
Before John and I had the girls we had a travel bucket list we put together, including our top travel destinations. One near the top of our list was a plan to take a flight to the US, hire a classic Mustang and drive Route 66; checking out spots along the route. Although Route 66 no longer exists on modern maps (the highway was decommissioned), it's still something I have always wanted to do, and hope one day we may still be able to do together.
The Great Wall of China
There is something about the seven wonders of the world that just call for you to visit, and alongside the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Roman Colesseum, the Great Wall of China is high on my travel bucket lost. My brother recently visited and I couldn't have been more jealous! I mean just look at how stunning it is. I'm not sure I would want to walk the whole way along it (I'm not fit enough for that!) but I would love to visit China and the famous Great Wall.
Thailand
From the amazing food to the beautiful scenery to the variety of things to do there; Thailand is definitely up there on my travel bucket list! I want to visit the Grand Palace, trek to see hill tribe villages and snorkel in the bright blue waters around the Phi Phi Islands. Although this obscure travel destination is on my travel bucket list, I'm not sure John would be up for all the things I want to do there. However, I'm sure I can make it worth his while to humour me on our travels!
Iceland
Ok, maybe this one isn't so obscure, I'd imagine there is a lot of people who wish to see the Northern Lights. Ever since I was small and read about them in books, both fiction and non, I have wanted to visit Iceland and had it on my travel bucket list. I would love to travel to see them up close and personal for myself. There is a cruise ship that travels there, and knowing how much John and I enjoy cruising, this could be the easiest holiday to convince John to join me on.
The Grand Canyon
The scale and size of the Grand Canyon puts me in awe of the true beauty of nature. Again, it may not be as obscure as others on my list, but to be able to travel and see this amazing scenery first hand is definitely up there on my travel buck list. My brother and his wife have yet to have children and visit all these amazing places I wish to travel to, and I feel so lucky to see their photos when they return bit really? I just wish I could go too!
Switzerland
There are a few places in Europe I have yet to visit that are on my travel bucket list, Switzerland is definitely one I don't want to miss out on. I want to take the train up to the glaciers, see the Rhine Falls and of course visit Lake Geneva, Europe's largest Alpine lake. It's such a beautiful country with so much to offer, and although I've never learnt to ski, there is plenty there I would love to do.
