The Mother's Day UK date is nearly upon us. Having just had a baby, I kind of missed the count down to Mother's Day on March 22nd. That being said, I couldn’t let it pass by without sharing Mother's Day gift ideas (including ones you don't have to buy!) to help you give your mum a very happy Mother's Day.
The small things that can make a big difference
“Some old fashioned things such as fresh air and sunshine are hard to beat.”
Go for a walk
Fresh air goes a long way to helping everyone relax, and feel better. Mums are so often on the go 24/7 and mentally can take a bit of hit at times (especially when there is the sensationalising of subjects in the media like with Covid-19 at the moment!) Getting outside for a walk can help to blow off the cobwebs, and escape from everything for a little while. It also has the added bonus of helping youngsters run off their excess energy (children having an early night is good for mum too!)
“You + me + cuddle + movie = I like that.”
Snuggle up for movie night
As much as getting outside is good for everyone, sometimes all you want is to snuggle up inside. Pick out your mum's favourite movie, open a bag of popcorn, snuggle up under a cosy blanket and enjoy! It's a great way to spend time together. It's also a calm, family activity that gives your mum a fighting chance at sitting down for longer than 5 minutes. After all, us mums are usually running around doing household jobs and answering to someone calling for one thing or another.
“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
Do the household chores
If you're old enough, do things to help mum around the house. Make your own snacks and drinks. Clean up after yourself. Do the vacuuming, dusting, washing up and more. There are plenty of jobs which can be allocated to children of all ages. Why not go one stop further and agree to do chored for more than just one day too?
“A home-cooked meal is a labour of love.”
Cook a meal (or even better, breakfast in bed!)
“If you want to change the world, pick up a pen and write.”
Homemade cards and handwritten letters
Gift ideas you can buy for mum
“We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.”
There is literally nothing better than having a house full of photos and memories (in my opinion anyway!) Here are a couple of my favourite photo gift ideas.
Photo frames and blocks
Memories on canvas
“Mums are like flowers, each is beautiful and unique.”
Every mum loves a bouquet of flowers
“Life is short, eat the sweet treats first!”
A basket of treats
“To gin, or not to gin… silly question!”
A little tipple for mum
“Self-care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what's left of you.”
A day at the spa
Self-care at home
