For me, I decided a romantic night away was just what I needed to relax, unwind and reboot.
Using the Red Letter Days voucher
Whether you choose to have an e-voucher or a physical voucher, the Red Letter Days redeem process is so easy. Even the vouchers themselves come with steps to follow so you can't go wrong! Once you're on the website, most experience days (excluding vouchers for specific destinations) allow you to choose where you want to go. Where we stayed
When it comes to date night ideas, John and I usually go for take-away movie nights at home, and occasionally cinema trips, so having a romantic night away was definitely a treat. I used my Red Letter Days voucher to book a one nights stay and dinner for two at The Fox Country Inn in High Wycombe. Set in a quiet, country location, it was so calm and relaxing. We loved that all you could hear was the sound of bird, and the occasional hum from the M40 (which is close enough to make it super easy to get to!)
The room
The Fox Country Inn was a great choice, and I am so pleased they are a Red Letter Days UK partner. The room was just the right size for a romantic getaway, beautifully finished and complete with all the amenities you need. It included a fridge, a safe, tea and coffee (plus biscuits, I mean, yay!) and of course a TV. We had a beautiful view from our window too! I was a bit disappointed there was only a shower as I love me a nice relaxing bubble bath but we still had an amazing time... and that bed was SO comfy (especially when you don't have a toddler trying to squeeze in the middle!)
Dinner for two
Dinner for two was included in my Red Letter Days voucher and we could choose a main and a glass of wine as part of the experience. The food was presented well and tasted fabulous. After spotting the daily special desert was a Bailey's cheesecake John had to try it, so we also treated ourselves to pudding! I had the most amazing (proper oozy) fondant. The food was so good, and the staff so lovely; that I'll forgive John for wanted to move. He went from romantically sitting opposite me to the side so he could see the football on the bar TV!
Added extras
Breakfast was included!
Much to my surprise we had continental breakfast included with our stay. Juices, teas, coffee, cereal, pastries, yoghurt and fruit were all available to choose from as part of our stay. We did decide to upgrade to have a full English breakfast too, however, which was just £5 each. An absolute bargain and SO yummy. A great way to start the day and finish our stay.
The bar
The bar was light and airy, with a choice of wonderfully comfy areas to sit and enjoy a drink and the company of whoever you decided to go with! John and I treated ourselves to a Magners (for him!) and a G&T (for me!) so we could start our stay by just relaxing and unwinding. No children to chase, no driving to do... it was perfect!
I had the most amazing romantic night away thanks to the Red Letter Days voucher and I cannot recommend it enough. From how easy the process of booking is, to the variety of experience day options, to how many different wonderful places you can choose to use your voucher, it really is the perfect gift idea.
