My Number One Nursing Pillow | Theraline Review | Me Becoming Mum
You may remember my review of the awesome Original Theraline that I used (and continue to use!) during my pregnancy. I recently started using another of Theraline's awesome range, their nursing pillow (also known as the 'Plushy Moon'.) It has become one of our number one baby items and goes with us everywhere we go, and today's post is all about why.
It's perfect for breastfeeding.
This may be an obvious point for a nursing pillow, however I still feel the need to pop it in here. I have used a few different designs of pillow throughout my breastfeeding journey , and they all fall short of being perfect. From being the wrong shape, to the wrong size, to simply being totally uncomfortable, have never been able to find one I love; until now.
I love our Plushy Moon. I can position it in whatever way best suits the place that I am feeding Little L in (from the sofa, to our bed) as well as being able to use the part she is not resting on, to rest my supporting arm. It is so easy to breastfeed using this pillow, and I cannot imagine life without it.
It's super comfortable and oh so soft.
If you have a look at their website, you will see that Theraline call the material they use for the Plushy Moon, "cuddly". I couldn't agree more. The terry plush that adorns the exterior of this amazing pillow is so soft even when Little L is in bed I will continue to sit and use it for my own use. This usually involves lying on the sofa, cuddling it and resting my head on it.
It is so comfortable it is hard not to just drift off to sleep there and then, just like Little L does when she's resting, sitting cocooned within the moon shape.
It's light weight.
One of the most irritating things about previous nursing pillows I have used in the past, is how awkward and cumbersome they are when you are trying to move around with them. Especially if you are trying to transfer the pillow from one room to another whilst carrying your baby in one arm and your toddler is dragging themselves along attached to you (in my case usually wrapped around my legs or pulling on my top).
This is not the case with the Plushy Moon. It is super light, kind of like carrying a cloud around with you. More often than not I am able to pop it over one shoulder, and leave one hand free for my baby and one hand free to combat the clingy advances of my toddler.
Being light also means that the Plushy Moon is much easier to transport when we are travelling to places!
It's moldable.
Filled with their original micro pearls, and made with a clever, stretchy material, Theraline have invented a product that fits tonnes of different purposes. In a similar way that a beanbag would mould around you as you sat in it, so too does the Plushy Moon to your baby's body (or your own head if you wish to use it too!)
Another great reason to love its mouldability (I'm not sure that's a word, but it should be!) is that it means you can pack it in when travelling and it doesn't need a large, pre-determined space. As ours goes with us everywhere, whether we are going to a friend's house or on holiday, it is important to be able to get it in the car regardless of the sheer volume of other items it is packed amongst.
afternoon naps (for baby or you!)
Little L loves to snuggle into the pillow and take a nap, and I have to be honest, so do I! I must stress I don't leave Little L unattended in our Plushy Moon, but knowing she is safely supported in a comfortable position if she falls asleep downstairs means I feel so much better when I use that time to spend a few moment's with my toddler.
As for me, it is so much nicer than lying on a standard pillow or cushion, and I have never woken from a nap feeling like I have a crick in my neck like I have using other items to sleep on. The only thing I wish is that I could have naps more often and not just once a week when my hubby has a day off work!
It's perfect for tummy time.
We have been struggling to get Little L to do tummy time. In fact I'd go as far as saying she actually hates it. As much as she loves to play on her mat and in her jumperoo, she throws the most epic tantrums if we try and give her tummy time. That is not the case, however, with our Plushy Moon.
She will lie this way, kicking her feet and watching her sister play for ages. She loves to stroke the soft terry cloth exterior; and if you put something in front of her that she wants, she will push up against the pillow desperately trying to crawl and grab whatever it is she wants.
It's washable.
When it comes to items that you use with, around or for your children, the ability to clean the muck and grime that will inevitably end up all over them is one of the most important features. The Plushy Moon pillow is not only washable up to 40° but can be tumble dried on the low setting too. What could be better than that?
