Munchkin's 4D Bonding Scan | Baby I Love You, Carlisle
If you have followed me for a while, you may already have read my post about Squidgy's 4D scan in 2013 and subsequently Pickle’s 4D scan in 2016. Well, now we have baby number three on the way; it seemed only fair that we had a 4D scan for Munchkin too!
When did we have it?
I was 31+6 weeks pregnant with Munchkin when we went for his 4D scan.
Where did we have it?
Since the last 4D scan I had for Pickle, we have moved (again) so this time we had the scan at another new venue. We discovered Baby I Love You in Carlisle who offer a variety of different scan packages from early scans to 4D scans: perfect!
Which package did we choose?
We went for the mid-range 3D / 4D ultrasound scan package; which was a 30 minute appointment. At £89 it wasn't cheap, but I think it's well worth the money to have that amazing bonding experience. It included:
See your baby’s heartbeat
Fetal well-being check
2D B/W ultrasound prints
3 Colour 3D Photos (6×4)
1 Colour 3D Keyring
Baby I Love You bag
You also have the option to add on extras, so we chose to also get a USB with all our scan images on. In addition, due to the scan not being as successful as everyone hoped; we were also offered the heartbeat bear. It is absolutely amazing and contains a recording of our baby boy's heartbeat. (Have a listen on the video below!)
What was the scan studio like?
Baby I Love You is just outside of the city in Carlisle, and is amazing. Albeit super white (as a mum with two often messy children that's my worst nightmare… but it was beautiful!) It's not huge, but it is extremely well set up for pregnant mamas and their families to come and relax and enjoy the scan experience. I loved that the waiting room came complete with toys for children and a table showing baby growth. Plus they had so many lovely finishing touches like framed photos and even a Christmas tree (after all, it is the most wonderful time of the year!)
The scan
We had another difficult 4D scan experience with Munchkin. As with his sisters, he was playing at being shy. He spent most of the time with his hand on his face, or arm across his eyes. The brief glimpses we got of him were in between swapping which one he used to cover his features.
I found it quite hard that (once again) our baby was being cheeky and making it extremely difficult for us to get the scan we wanted. However I have to admit, it was so special to be able to see moments where he sucked his thumb, rubbed his eyes and even yawned! It's only 3 seconds long, but watch the video below and see if you can spot his massive yawn.
The girls had a fabulous time and keep telling us about their favourite things from the scan. From seeing their brother sucking his thumb to how funny it was that he kept covering his face. They were especially proud of their new “Big Sister" stickers the lovely lady at the reception gave them.
I'm so glad we were able to save up and book this scan for Munchkin. Even if the photos aren’t the best, it was so lovely to see him; and catch all those little moments as we watched. Of course my favourite thing was being able to share it all with my family; from a very excited daddy to two of the proudest big sisters in the world.
