Mama Christmas' 2024 Grotto | My Home at Christmas

Our Christmas grotto is back, and bigger than ever. For the first time in a while I have not only decorated every room, but also remembered to photograph it all!

My Christmas tree may have been up since September (thanks to the WeRChristmas collab), but now it's all completed it’s time to share. So, with 16 years of decorations, homeware, lights and more in place, let's take a tour of my Christmas grotto home.

Downstairs

The Stairwell

These ceiling lights with baubles are something I’ve wanted to do for years but never had the time or patience. After seeing it trending on TikTok I decided to give it a go on the ceiling above our stairs and I think it's awesome (even if I do say so myself!)

As for the rest of the stairwell, our 5ft singing and dancing Santa is the main feature, but of course our Vinted specialbuy light-up curtain over the door is the perfect finishing touch.

The Living Room

This is the room John and I relax in… but that doesn’t mean it's not just as chaotic and Christmas-y as everywhere else. If anything it's the room with the most Christmas decorations including 80s foil garlands (for John) and Disney ornaments (for me).

Our main Christmas tree is the centre piece of the living room, and is the one to feature all our “special” decorations from personalised baubles to our favourite Disney characters.

The Kitchen

If you're going to go all out at Christmas, changing over everything from mugs and glasses to plates and bowls is a must. Add in some light boxes, decorations, and a Christmas photo or two and it all comes together.

My memory magnets are the best part of the kitchen. These magnets show a history of our family at Christmas from Squidgy's first Christmas to now.

The Playroom

The playroom is the room that is used the most, and so it's decorated accordingly. We use a tree which is older than some of my children along with a random mix and match selection of decorations, tinsel, sofa covers, cushions, and more. Plus, of course, the window voile panels I sewed together!

The Bathroom

Yep, even the bathroom gets a Christmas makeover in my house. This is something guests, friends, and family all seem to find hilarious, I can't fathom why!

Upstairs

Our Bedroom

Disney Mickey and Minnie themed decorations from teddies to bedding to baubles… what could be better? Even the personalised coasters on our bedside tables change to fit the theme… and I love it!

The Girls’ Bedroom

As the girls share a room, it's a bit of a mix of colours and themes. Of course we have Stitch for Squidgy, Minnie Mouse for Pickle, and Peppa for Peanut. This year is the first year of them having their own “big” tree too.

Munchkin's Bedroom

Munchkin wanted one theme this year - Mr Grinch! Although he also has Spidey and other Christmas themed bedding, the Grinch baubles, lights, bedding, cushion, and more were claimed as his this year.

One of my favourite parts of the house has to be this bookshelf. The books change to Christmas books ready for the festive season. I have to say, Christmas bedtime stories are simply the best.

Maybe next year I'll think about creating a video tour as a reel on Instagram, but for now, you'll have to make do with photos. I hope you've enjoyed the tour of our Christmas grotto home… I can't wait to make it bigger and better than ever next year.

Wishing you a very Happy Christmas from my family and me this year!
