Discover Intu Watford | Family Activities after 5pm

Disclaimer: I was invited by Intu Watford to check out what is available for families to do in town after 5pm. The following words and opinions are my own. All photos are copyright property of Me Becoming Mum.

I love Intu Watford. In a society where we are increasingly using online shopping to get the best deals without leaving home; I don't think anything can beat visiting somewhere like our local Intu centre. With a massive variety of shops as well as places to eat and play, there is something for everyone there. It is definitely a thumbs up from us!

Intu Watford decided to introduce a flat rate of just £2 to park in Intu Watford after 5pm. This means you can enjoy the late night shopping and extras without having to worry about getting back to your car! Here's what we think are the perfect ways to make the most of this amazing deal, whilst enjoying time as a family.

What we did

A trip to the cinema

You know a trip to the cinema will be a long one. You want time to pick out your treats, there's always trailers at the start and you're looking at at least two hours to watch the movie.  How many times have you clock watched or ran from the end of a movie to get back to your car in time? With the new flat rate £2 parking, Intu Watford have you covered. Squidgy and I had such a joyous, relaxing time together. We got popcorn, drinks and chocolate (she is so my daughter!) and had a Mary Poppins Returns cinema experience that will provide conversations and memories for a lifetime.

It was so nice to have some one-to-one time on our special mummy-daughter date, and it was Squidgy's first time in the cinema... something I am so glad I was able to share with her. I found the Watford cineworld prices quite high (maybe it's just because I haven't been to the cinema myself for years!) but the inside was amazing. From the sparkly floor to the bright, colourful lights all around the interior there was so many things Squidgy loved. Plus those seats were so much comfier than I remember cinemas being (just standard, not even special VIP ones!) So much so I had to stop Squidgy from falling asleep on them in the middle of the movie.

A family meal

Have you ever been out with children for a meal? If so, you'll know why it is so important not to have to worry about the time on your parking because you can't ever just grab 'a quick bite'.  Thanks to the £2 parking flat rate in Intu Watford, you can enjoy a lovely meal without rushing (you or your children!)

We went to Ed's Easy Diner and absolutely loved it. It was lovely and quiet in the evening, which helped me not to feel anxious if our girls were being a little too excitable. They were super family-friendly, with a children's menu, plenty of drinks to choose from and even crayons to let them colour while they wait for their food. Talking about the food it was absolutely lush. Maybe not the healthiest of options, but as a special treat our yummy burgers, hot dogs and chips really hit the mark. Everyone left full, and happy! The staff were lovely too, which makes for a great experience all round.

Shopping for in store deals

Obviously finding great things to do as a family is one thing, but let's not forget that Intu Watford is a shopping centre. There are so many shops; including The Disney Store (Squidgy's favourite) LEGO Store (John's favourite) and Primark (my favourite) and you are sure to find bargains galore amongst them. Paying just £2 for your parking leaves you a little extra to spoil yourself (or your children!)

What else can you do?

Have a bowling adventure

You may have seen we also recently had the opportunity to check out the new bowling Watford Intu has inside! I wrote about our attendance of the Hollywood Bowl VIP event and I would highly recommend this as something to do in town. With only £2 to pay in parking you could play more than one game with your family, as well as have a drink at the bar and check out the arcades!

Get climbing

The girls loved attended the opening day of Intu Watford's new Rock Up climbing centre (read about it here!), so much, of course we've been back! They can't get enough of it, from the climbing walls to the soft play. You are never too old for climbing and it is definitely a fabulous, fun, family activity you can all enjoy whilst at Intu Watford.

Now you know that it is so easy to come and enjoy the shopping centre, check out the Intu Watford opening times on their website and plan your trip. Be sure to come on down for some family fun, knowing you'll only pay £2 to park you car!
